Does tele-therapy work for patients with stuttering disorders? There is a very recent study (Eslami Jahromi M, et al., Disabil Rehabil Assist Technol. 2022 Jan;17(1):34-39. doi: 10.1080/17483107.2020.1754475) that suggests that it does.

This was an interventional trial conducted on patients visiting two rehabilitation centers via Skype. The Stuttering Severity Instrument, Fourth Edition, was used to evaluate severity of stuttering before and after intervention.

The results showed a significant difference in the mean scores of stuttering severity before and after tele-speech therapy (p = 0.001). Findings showed a mean reduction of 13.8% in stuttering scores. More than half of the patients (56.6%) reported a “high” and “very high” satisfaction with this treatment modality.
